    WELCOME!

    W
elcome to my newly designed blog-site. Some of you may be new to this, so I will briefly explain... this is a website that is also a blog and vice versa. My old site had not been updated in almost two years, and thus, my blog was truly the best representation of my work. So... the two shall become one! If you are new to me, feel free to click on the buttons above for sample galleries of some of my favorite work. Then, check out my most recent work by clicking through the most relevant category for what you are searching. For everyone else, enjoy the joined functionality... Happy viewing!

Stacey & Chris - Engagement Portraits

    I
said yesterday that the greatest compliment that a photographer can receive is repeat business, but a VERY close second to that is referral business. I have not purchased an ad anywhere in the past 3 years (I did start out with paid ads the first few years) because I firmly believe that I should invest that back into making my clients happy and wowed (at least to the best of my ability). At any rate, I met up with Stacey & Chris yesterday in Valley Forge. Stacey was a bridesmaid for Brittani & Kyle's wedding back in July of 2008 (she is in TWO of the images on their preview). I know that Brittani still frequents my site, and even though I haven't photographed her since she "trashed" her dress in October 2008, I am so thankful for her and Kyle and their continued support. And, I am so excited that I got the opportunity and honor to photograph Stacey & Chris for their engagement portraits. They are such a sweet couple, and I had such a great time. Happy viewing, friends!

we met up a little later than I usually do shoots in order to avoid traffic (last time I drove this 18 mile path, it took me an hour each way- boo!)... but, the benefit, in addition to missing traffic, is the buttery light. love it!

love tall grass. hate the ticks that usually come with it here, though!

    sweetness

    fave!

oh, wait, i love this one, too. so very much!

Stacey & Chris both have great smiles!

we headed over to a stone chapel for a few... we ran into a HUGE crowd for a concert of their bells, so we had to tuck away for a few.

they know how to laugh together.

since the front of the church was packed, we crossed the road for a few.

Stacey was smiling ear to ear in every image, which i loved, but i managed to get one or two (towards the end) with a softer look. fiercely beautiful!

oh wait, these last two are my favorites!!

Thanks again, Stacey & Chris... and Brittani & Kyle!

    Families

    The Swaim Family

    T
here is no greater compliment as a photographer than a client booking another session, and I know I have said that before... but, it is absolutely true. My friend Mel once made the statement that "people have family dentists and doctors, why not have a family photographer you always go to!" I love that thought, but unlike other "family" professionals she listed, what I do is not a necessity for health and well being. So, for me, it makes it an even greater compliment to have clients come back. :-) The Swaim family are a prime example of this type of client for me... it started in 2007 with their engagement session, then to 2008 with their wedding and then last year for Joe Joe's baby portraits. Joe Sr contacted me around Christmas to get his wife a gift certificate for a portrait session with me since they have a sweet addition to their family... Scarlett Elle! She is now the same age that Joe was for his baby portraits, so it was perfect timing to commemorate their new family member. I have been looking forward to photographing this sweet one since my last session with the Swaims (Jennie was pregnant then). Yes, they are only 15 months apart, which means that life is insane for them all, but they have more than enough love and joy to go around. Happy viewing, friends!

one of my favorite things about photographing babies this age... they almost always reach for the lens when I put on the wide angle (they can CLEARLY see themselves in it). :-)

    how sweet is she?!

    "no way!"

we quickly became friends, Scarlett and me. ;-)

i adore this one! Jennie did such an amazing job with this princess' nursery. love the stripes and the monogram... oh, and i love the lil baby blues peeking over the crib.

    on to Joe Joe...

i was amazed at how long this 2 year old sat and played inside... I think his parents were, too.

does this one really need a description? haha!

Joe Joe is a bit serious at times. I love it!

Give her a month or two, and she will be running, playing ball with the boys!

    cuteness overload.

Jennie has THE best laugh. Good thing she laughs a lot. Scarlett just got a nice kiss from the pup.

    sweetness.

i LOVE this one!!! a lot. especially the dog in the background. (Joe Joe is there, too- above the ball)

sometimes a family portrait with babies these ages just means everyone in the same frame NOT crying. ;-)

Joe knows how to make his son laugh... leap over him!!

    love!

my favorite family portrait (i would probably crop it to be square when printed, fyi). love this family! Thanks so much, guys!

    Personal

Another half birthday for my Sweet Pea!

    I
know every parent will probably agree with me when I say that the life of my daughter seems to have both FLOWN by me and to be an eternity. I am so engrossed in being a mommy to Claire that I BARELY remember what life was like before her (though I do remember Saturdays being MUCH lazier). But, I also can't believe she has so quickly approached her second half birthday... and soon... her second birthday will be here before I blink! She is changing and growing so much. Her vocabulary seems to double weekly, and she is OBSESSED with books and running and Sesame Street and dogs and pickles... and the list goes on. She LOVES everything (or HATES everything) all the way. I love her. And, I know I keep saying THIS is the most fun age, but I really mean it this time. ;-) Happy viewing, friends!

we went to Chanticleer Gardens to play and take a few pics. They have VERY strict "no portrait photography" rules, so I was a little nervous to do this... but I came as just a mom taking pictures of her daughter... i just happen to have professional equipment. ;-) But, sorry, clients, this place is not available for you. :-(

these Chucks were hand-me-downs from Sophie (my favorite subject to photograph pre-Claire). we love these shoes and are so sad that they are probably too small for Claire now.

oh, the many faces of Claire. I see these multiple times a day, especially when she is running!

Claire USUALLY runs away from me, though... here she is running off with our map of the gardens (her "book" she kept calling it)

    love her!

Claire is just barely on the charts for her weight. She literally just grew out of her infant carrier rear-facing car seat and into a big girl forward facing seat (she LOVES it!)... a whopping 20 pounds 10 ounces!

Claire loves books. I can't get enough of them for her.

"Claire, what sound does an elephant make?"

Claire is pretty girly. I don't know if it is genetically passed on from me or if she learned it, but she LOVES this new dress!

she also loves to hear herself talk. We took her to the Art Museum the day before, and every new room, she would test out if she echoed. Here, I am pretty sure, she is yelling to let everyone know she is here!

i failed to mention it was almost 100 with about 85% humidity this day... we were all DRIPPING with sweat. I think Claire is done. haha!

there are MANY more on my Facebook personal page, of course. ;-) Happy Half Birthday, Sweet Pea!

Meredith & Stephen - Interlaken Inn Wedding

    A
nd so the story goes... another wedding where the forecast called for a high chance of thunderstorms throughout the entire afternoon and evening... but fortunately, the forecast was wrong. It was a perfect day (albeit HOT for the Adirondacks) at The Interlaken Inn. I love events here at the inn because they are always small, intimate and cozy (not to mention the food is phenomenal!). Meredith & Stephen and all of their guests were filled with excitement and joy all day long, and it is always a refreshing thing to see such love. I am sure you will agree. Happy viewing, friends!

I don't usually spend long with the groom while he is getting ready (since, let's face it, it doesn't take them long), but the little moments I do share are great... I love just knowing that Stephen must be feeling pretty anxious to get the show on the road in this one...

There is something about a bride getting into her dress and getting it just perfect... i love it.

beautiful! (Flowers by Lake Placid Flower & Gift)

i love a little flute prelude at a wedding...

    seriously perfect!

Stephen has a 13 year old daughter, and they wanted to include a special vow to her during the ceremony. It was especially sweet and touching.

she was obviously excited for her necklace.

    we did it!

    "aaaaaaahhh, a cool lake breeze!"

Stephen makes Meredith laugh... i love it!

    favorite!

One of their favorite features of the inn is the staircase.

    Stephen's ring is so unique!

might be one of my fave ring shots ever.

Thank you, D3s for AMAZING clarity at high ISOs! I love that I was able to capture this fun moment with natural light in an otherwise DARK room.

sweet moment between dad and daughter.

Stephen's mother was the matchmaker for them... this is one of those sweet moments that I am SO grateful I caught.

a little rest at the end of the night...

    CONGRATS!!!!
