W elcome to my newly designed blog-site. Some of you may be new to this, so I will briefly explain... this is a website that is also a blog and vice versa. My old site had not been updated in almost two years, and thus, my blog was truly the best representation of my work. So... the two shall become one! If you are new to me, feel free to click on the buttons above for sample galleries of some of my favorite work. Then, check out my most recent work by clicking through the most relevant category for what you are searching. For everyone else, enjoy the joined functionality... Happy viewing! |

M any people wonder what in the world I do when I am not out taking pictures of people... like there must be nothing else to my job. :-) I usually politely smile and say "only about 10% of my job is actually clicking a shutter button." The off-season (ie November through March) is usually FILLED with album design work. While an increasing number of my clients are purchasing classic matted albums or La-Vie Albums (which are designed by La-Vie), I still have many clients that want that flush mount style album, and I still LOVE to design them! I thought I would share a few layouts that I have worked on in the last few months. Happy viewing, friends!
I did this one today. I love that Michelle & Dan allowed me to choose the images for their initial design. Of course, they will get to swap things out, but designs go so much smoother for me when I get to choose the images first... simply because I often have visions of designs when I cull the images. This layout is a prime example. Not many brides would choose 5 portraits of just her for her album, but I love the feel of this spread! (the frills are from their invites). |

Cat & Joe are another example of a bride & groom letting me choose the initial images to use... and another example of using designs from the wedding stationery (easy to do when you have clients that are designers!).

i love this panoramic page for Debbie & Alex. They were married in the fall of 2008. Usually, we do all of our designs pretty quick after the wedding, but just a month ago, I was working on a 2006 album, a 2007 album, three 2008 albums and then five 2009 albums! It is never too late for those couples that didn't have albums in their packages!

Eloise - Newborn Portraits |

T he trip I had planned last week to North Carolina was all for my new sweet niece Eloise... and, of course, her daddy (my brother) and mommy. Sweet Eloise came into this world a few weeks later than we expected. While that was most uncomfortable for my sister-in-law, I was a bit excited that the time I would be around would be right in her perfect window for true newborn portraits (5-10 days old). Sorry, Katy, don't hate me. :-) Anyway, I am SO excited that my big brother is a dad. It is so fun to watch him with Eloise, and I look forward to watching her grow and get big enough to play with her fun cousin. But, enough babbling... on to some sweet images of a sweet baby girl (again, couldn't narrow it down real well). Happy viewing, friends!
sweet little family... |

my sister-in-law is so beautiful.

this is probably my favorite. Eloise crosses her ankles all the time... must've done it in the womb.

favorite daddy-daughter pic.

love these colors! (i really regret not getting a picture of Claire all swaddled up like a burrito).

the next two are about the same, but i love the two different tones...

Katy was laughing that the first image I got of her kissing Eloise, she looked like she did NOT like her mom's kisses. ha!

Congrats David & Katy! I love you three so much!

W e're back in Philadelphia from visiting my family- a whirlwind crazy trip, but we are back! The day before we left North Carolina, I met up with Sara and Matt in Chapel Hill to do their engagement session. Sara is one of my most loyal followers... over two years ago, she wrote me the sweetest email just letting me know that even though she wasn't engaged yet, she KNEW she was getting married in Lake Placid and HAD to have me photograph her wedding! Well, the time came... and they are indeed getting married in Lake Placid this August, and I am SO excited to be the one to photograph it, even though we've moved away from the Adirondacks (that sentence makes me choke up a bit). I had a blast with Sara & Matt! We all were laughing a bit, which is the best way to go, really. Anyway, I couldn't narrow down my faves to the normal 10ish, and since the blog has been a little slow lately... I thought I would share some extras! Happy viewing, friends!
Matt's parents own an antique store in Carrboro, so we got a few there. |

we went outside for a few... they pulled out a sofa for us to use!

I couldn't fly with my favorite lens (70-200mm f.2.8) since it is too big and too expensive to just carry in my backpack along with Claire's diapers, but I rediscovered all the fun ways to use my 85mm f/1.4!

Sara has the best laugh and smile. LOVE this one!

this spot was great! one fave shot with the 85mm...

and one fave with my 17-35mm f/2.8!

i really love it when my couples can laugh with me and play a little!

we then went to UNC's amphitheater. GREAT spot!!

seriously... how sweet are they?!

i love how it looks like the end of fall in the dead of winter. :-)

loving the textures on these stone stairs.

Sara is going to make a STUNNING bride!

practicing a few dance moves.

there's something so sweet about this one for me.

okay, this is kinda pretty much the same shot as above... except this is Sara & Matt working on their "serious face." I think she's got it!

just one more to close... sweet couple! I had so much fun! Thanks, guys!!!

I have to preface this post by saying that these are NOT my niece's official first portraits yet... while I REALLY wanted to do that in the first 5-10 days of her life (the ideal span of time for newborn portraits), it just wasn't the right time for all the parties involved. So, we will do them next Friday before we leave. But for now, I will just share a few pics from our brief first meeting yesterday.
Meet my sweet sweet BEAUTIFUL niece Eloise... she is so precious! I am so incredibly excited to be an aunt and to watch her grow and spoil her in ways I can't spoil my own daughter. But, even more so, I am really excited to watch Claire and Eloise grow up so close in age. Claire wasn't super interested in her this trip (though she did give her a kiss)... but that could be because my brother and sister-in-law have DOGS (claire's current obsession). Anyway... Congrats to my brother and sister-in-law, and happy viewing to the rest of you! |

Claire loves her Uncle Dave and Aunt Katy... but she also loves my old-school phone and a classic remote (note dog toy in hand, also)

sweet baby girl! (a lot of these look alike, but who can get enough of a newborn?!)

she's holding her daddy's thumb.

makes me melt to see my brother love his daughter so...
