Sara & Matt - Lake Placid Wedding |

S ara and Matt were married on Saturday at a private camp in Lake Placid, New York. It wasn't the clearest day (as Friday had been), but it was perfect in every way still. Since it is kind of crazy planning a wedding on a private estate, they hired the fabulous Mim Frantz to make their wedding day seamless (not to mention beautiful!). I think I could do an entire post on just detail shots, but since weddings are more about the people than the things, I won't (but someday look for some inspiration boards from all of my weddings, as I realize future brides like to see what people have done). ;-) Anyhow... I think I have looked forward to this day for years. Sara emailed me LONG before she was engaged just to let me know she was keeping up with my blog and would someday use me for her wedding. And, while I get emails like that every now and then, I often don't think one can be serious about that until they have plans in motion... but Sara was dead serious. And her emails made me laugh and smile, and I just PRAYED it would work out someday... and, fortunately, it did! Once I met Sara and Matt in person for their their engagement session in Durham, I just knew that I would be smiling and laughing their entire wedding day... and I wasn't wrong. It was a great day! Happy viewing, friends! |

how stunning is Sara? geesh!

I almost never get to the groom early enough to catch him shaving. I was kind of excited actually. I mean, it only takes a groom five minutes to get ready, right? So, another minute here. ;-)

Sara & Matt chose to see each other before the ceremony to get some of their portraits out of the way. This moment is so PRICELESS. So much so that I couldn't stand to change a thing about it (straight out of camera). How cute are they?!

Matt was a little teary... I got a lil teary, too.

Kris at Trillium Florist in Tupper Lake did an AHHHmazing job!

walking down the path to the aisle... love!

one-two-skip a few... married!

this might be my favorite... what a beautiful bride and groom in a beautiful setting!

I could photograph Sara all day every day. :-)

No, wait, this might be my fave. Love the beetle... love the lights... love the barn... love the couple!

sure, i get nervous sometimes when i shoot ring shots in spots where they can fall, but I just HAD to do this!

the barn looked AWESOME! Mim and Sara and everyone else involved did an amazing job making a rustic barn look so nice!

love the vintage-inspired cake.

Okay, not only is this a fun image of Sara & Matt, but Sara's grandparents are in the background!

Love Father/Daughter dances...

Sara & Matt set up a do-your-own "photobooth" with a digital camera on a tripod and lots of props. super cute!

Second time I got teary in the day... watching Sara's grandparents dance. If I am half this happy in 40-50 years, I will be a blessed woman!

and sparklers to close! CONGRATS!!!

Sarah & Dan - Lake Placid Club Wedding |

S arah and Daniel were married on Chapel Island on Upper Saranac Lake on Friday. It was an absolutely PERFECT Adirondack August day... no chance of rain... no humidity and a high of 70. Couldn't ask for a better day! Some of you may remember their engagement session on one of the coldest days of the year... When I first saw Sarah on Friday, she almost took my breath away. She looked so stunning (and a bit less bulky without a down coat! haha!). Congrats to the newlyweds! I had such a great time. Happy viewing, friends!
out of modesty, Sarah wanted to get dressed in her room, but occasionally I glanced over so as not to miss anything important... love this one I caught of her mom with her dress. |

see what I mean? stunning!

Dan was pretty excited to marry Sarah!

this poor lil guy was BEAT before it even started. ;-)

there were so many cute cute kids at this wedding... I probably took hundreds of just kids.

Chapel Island... Island Chapel (depends who you ask what it is called)

love they have similar expressions.

like i said... perfect day!

Sarah's rings were also breathtaking.

i love white lights at a wedding. also, love her hair piece she found on Etsy

Seth & Emily are married! |

I am not sure where to begin with this post, as it is not a typical wedding for me... neither as a guest nor as a professional. See, Seth and my husband go WAAAAAYYY back (my brother-in-law was Seth's best man actually)... and well, we met Em years ago at the camp Chris worked at in Saranac Lake. So, this was a wedding we could not and would not miss, even if it meant sitting in horrid traffic for hours (yes, I am talking about YOU, I-95!). Anyway... Emily saved the day when I got a serious stomach bug the day after we moved here... the day Chris started his new job... the day that everyone I knew was working... the day that I had NO strength to lift or watch my baby. She gladly came over to play with Claire while I wallowed in pain in bed. I HAD to repay her somehow, especially since she refused to accept payment. Well, nothing was coming to mind... and then it somehow came up that Em & Seth were using one of their bridesmaids to be their wedding photographer... not just any bridesmaid or just a friend with a camera, but the fab Katelyn James... but, of course, naturally, Katelyn needed to be a part of the wedding and not just photograph it. So... I worked out a plan with Katelyn to do the ceremony and a few other brief moments (like the wedding party pic and introductions) for her. And, thus it went... Best of both worlds... photographer for the ceremony and guest for the party! Happy viewing, friends!
meet Katelyn... I am going to be stalking her blog all week to see the full preview! |

Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Baxter!!!

Carla & Darik - Lake Placid Golf Club Wedding |

C arla and Darik are married! They had an absolutely perfect Adirondack summer day (high of 70) with perfect blue skies and no threat of rain. Since they booked me well over a year ago, I feel like I have been looking forward to this day forever. I actually love the way they chose to book me... see, most of my Adirondack clients don't get to meet me much before booking (if they get to meet me before then) since most of them do not live in the Adirondacks year round, as I once did. But, that can be pretty intimidating if photography is important to you and you want to be sure you pick the right person for you. So, we decided to start with an engagement session first. Of course, I think we all felt pretty confident by the end of the session that we were a good match, but I loved getting to know them a bit before we all signed the dotted line just to ensure a greater confidence that we would work well together. Anyway, that said... after their engagement session and their Christmas card shoot (which was also SO fun!!), I was bursting with excitement to photograph their day because I knew that it would be filled with laughter and joy, and I wasn't disappointed. Congrats you guys! And, happy viewing, friends!
Carla gave Darik a watch as a wedding present. love this moment. |

then, off to photograph Carla getting ready...

she was BEAMING with joy all day long!

loved that Carla used pieces of her grandmother's veil in her headpiece and in the flower girl's bracelets. also, loved the pinecones!

Carla is a member of the 46ers (which means she has hiked 46 mountains over 4600 feet in the Adirondacks)... her hiking shoes had to be part of the day.

seriously?! does it get cuter or sweeter?

hiking boots, here you go!

Carla & Darik decided to only have 3 posed pictures during the formal session, her immediate family, then his, then the wedding party. It was AMAZING! I know that isn't for everyone, but since it only took about 5 minutes, we had tons of time to go to this field to get the pictures they really wanted of just the two of them. Loved it!

i want to briefly add a note to other photographers that wonder how I photoshop images... this one is straight out of the camera. ;-) I used a reflector to get the proper exposure.

first dance on the patio at the Lake Placid Golf Club. (of all the weddings I have done there, I have never had a couple use this space for dancing, and i have no idea why not, it was perfect!)

LOVE the flower girl dresses. favorite of all time, seriously. so classy! oh, and these two were quite the dancers!

i mean, the patio was perfect. look at that view! you can't get that from the pavilion!!

thanks again and congrats again! I can't wait to start the album!!

Meredith & Stephen - Interlaken Inn Wedding |

A nd so the story goes... another wedding where the forecast called for a high chance of thunderstorms throughout the entire afternoon and evening... but fortunately, the forecast was wrong. It was a perfect day (albeit HOT for the Adirondacks) at The Interlaken Inn. I love events here at the inn because they are always small, intimate and cozy (not to mention the food is phenomenal!). Meredith & Stephen and all of their guests were filled with excitement and joy all day long, and it is always a refreshing thing to see such love. I am sure you will agree. Happy viewing, friends!
I don't usually spend long with the groom while he is getting ready (since, let's face it, it doesn't take them long), but the little moments I do share are great... I love just knowing that Stephen must be feeling pretty anxious to get the show on the road in this one... |

There is something about a bride getting into her dress and getting it just perfect... i love it.

i love a little flute prelude at a wedding...

Stephen has a 13 year old daughter, and they wanted to include a special vow to her during the ceremony. It was especially sweet and touching.

she was obviously excited for her necklace.

"aaaaaaahhh, a cool lake breeze!"

Stephen makes Meredith laugh... i love it!

One of their favorite features of the inn is the staircase.

Stephen's ring is so unique!

might be one of my fave ring shots ever.

Thank you, D3s for AMAZING clarity at high ISOs! I love that I was able to capture this fun moment with natural light in an otherwise DARK room.

sweet moment between dad and daughter.

Stephen's mother was the matchmaker for them... this is one of those sweet moments that I am SO grateful I caught.

a little rest at the end of the night...
