S o... I just got word that our Canvas company is running a promo for the Super Bowl. And, while I am the last person to talk to about football, I want to pass this along to you! From now through Sunday, get 25% off your canvas gallery wrap order; just enter the promo code "SOSUPER" at checkout. There is a glitch in the shipping charges, so you will be partially refunded on some of the shipping charges if you order more than one canvas. So, order away!
(In other news, our regular print lab has raised their prices, so our print prices will go up in the next few weeks.) |

Claire's First Photo Shoot |

W ords cannot describe how in love we are with our sweet little Claire Anna. We are so blessed in so many ways. First off, I would like to formally thank all of the nurses and Dr. Jenks at Adirondack Medical Center (I know there is at least one of you reading this). We had the entire maternity ward to ourselves and were given excellent service and care the whole time we stayed. Our entire experience there was just perfect and we are so grateful.
With that said, today we had our first little photo shoot with Claire! Happy viewing!
Chris is already an excellent father. Claire is such a lucky girl! |

| I just love her sweet eyes. |

| Her profile is perfect :-) |

| She definitely has her daddy's dark hair. |

| Who doesn't love baby feet??! |

| My favorite shot of Claire alone... |

| Thank you to everyone for your continued support and prayers through all this. We appreciate all of your encouragement, gifts and dinners. :-) |

A t 12:50pm on the 17th of January, 2009 we welcomed the newest member of our family into the world. Claire Anna Barnes! We are so excited to share a ton of pictures with you, but here are just a few that Chris and our nurse took soon after she was born and a little video that Chris put together. More to come soon! |

Welcome to the *New* Rae Barnes Photography |

W elcome to our new blog and website! This redesign of the Rae Barnes Photography brand is something we've been working on for months and are so excited to finally share the results with you. Our new logo was designed by the very talented folks over at Big Bridge Design and our blog/website was designed by Dave Warfel and the team over at Infinet Design. We really could not be happier with the results and are so excited to start incorporating these new designs into our image.
Please let us know what you think of all this in the comments - we would love to hear from you! Stay tuned for pictures of our baby which should be arriving any day! |

2 008 was quite the year! Sure, I spent most of it pregnant and thus making 2009 a very exciting year to look forward to, but 2008 had its own treasures. First off, Kristin joined our team in April, and I could not have fathomed a better Studio Manager. She has really done an excellent job (as long as I communicate verbally and not thru osmosis with her). ;-) This year, we shot 24 weddings this year for 24 truly great clients... We shot a wedding in subzero temperatures and one in 100 degree pure humidity (and yes, I was pregnant at this one). We shot in 7 different states at 22 different venues. Our first three brides of the year already have new little additions to their families (watch out everyone else!). In addition to our weddings, we had 12 wonderful portrait clients (4 of which were Seniors, Class of 2009- a first for me) and five 2009 wedding clients already do their engagement sessions.
And in addition to all the joys, we did have a few bittersweet moments... one of which just happened... moving out of the studio space on Broadway. We have loved having this space, and it definitely was a lifesaver more than a few times to have it over the past year and a half. But, we were renting, and I hate seeing money essentially go down the drain... AND... since I am having this baby, I know it will be easier to do most of my work from home. So, although it was very difficult to leave such a great space that we put so much work into making look good, I am excited to start saving that money towards a down payment for a building (5 year goal here, people, I don't work magic).
As we start 2009, we do have fewer weddings than we normally do at this time of year, but this was really a deliberate choice. We want to do less in order to better serve the couples we do work for, but we also want to do less weddings in 2009 so that I have more of an opportunity to do more and more portrait work for fun kids and adorable babies... as well as couples or families or anyone who just wants some fresh and fun pics of themselves. We still have about 4 or 5 slots for 2009 weddings, and I will start booking portrait sessions near the end of my "maternity leave" (which has already kinda started since the doc thinks I could go at any moment). So, keep in touch, and I will try to do the same!
Here's a lil tribute to our 24 wedding couples of 2008. Congrats to you all, and thank you (again and again) for entrusting your special memories to us! We are forever grateful for your trust, enthusiasm and loyalty! May you all have a truly blessed new year. |
