    Weddings

    Richmond Hill Inn

    A
ccording to the Asheville Citizen Times (and my mom), the Richmond Hill Inn has burned down! Apparently, it was arson, which is just nuts, especially since the inn was about to undergo foreclosure. It is all just hard for me to believe... mostly because I think of all the poor brides that had their weddings planned there for this wedding season (especially those April brides! yikes!). I had only done one wedding there, but it was one of my faves last year. You can see Lindsey & Thad's album design here. I hope they catch the people responsible, and I also hope that all of those couples that had weddings planned there in the next few months are able to find another place.

    The Cover Photo

    T
he photo that goes on the cover of a wedding album sets the tone for the entire album, and while I have wished that I could choose every cover image for my clients, this year, I think my clients did a pretty good job for selecting images that are not the boring "grandma" shot of them staring straight at me with a forced smile. (I actually haven't had many clients over the years choose that, but when they do, I usually grit my teeth as I send it off to binding). You CAN judge a book by its cover, and the cover should be a glimpse into the relationship of the bride and groom OR at least a glimpse into what is inside. Anyway, since I don't have a shoot this week (other than my daughter), I thought I would share with you some of my favorite cover photos for albums from our 2008 couples. These were all chosen by the couples, with one exception. :-) Happy viewing!

In order of the weddings... we start with Kevin & Amy. Their cover was a black leather, and this photo blended into the cover PERFECTLY! Since they had a flush mount design on the interior, we all thought that having their names and date designed into the image was the way to go... in order to match the interior design.

Next, Lacie & Mac... Their names were on the board, so no imprinting here either! Their cover was also a black leather, so this image just popped out from it!

Oh, Kelly & Michael... this is just a simple, fun shot. Though Kelly had chosen a flush mount album, she wanted the design to be simple and classic, and thus, their cover reflected that without being boring. :-)

This is the one cover image I chose and suggested to the couple. Lindsey had chosen an image that I had captured of her and Thad that was up against a red wall. Well, I love the image, but their leather was also black... and their wedding colors were so bright and fun that I strongly felt like the red and black cover would not match what was going on inside their album. So... I whipped this up and asked for approval, and they loved it! Hooray!

I have to give Chris credit for this next shot because he was the genius behind the lens on this one. How stunning! And, while this is not a picture of the bride and groom together, it is PERFECT for this couple's wedding. It truly sets the scene of the impending nuptials. I love it!

Pretty simple again. This image was cropped in more to a small square. The album had a blue silk cover, so there was not an option to do imprinting. But, this was perfect to show the colors and their names.

This next image is for an album that is not yet complete, but I can't wait to see it finished! The cover will be a mahogany brown, which I think will be perfect with the interior ivory mattes. Simple and perfect.

You may notice this image if you have picked up the latest issue of WellWed. I definitely think this is the best image of the two of them. So sweet... simple and clean.

And lastly, another one that is not yet completed... and also another one that is simple and sets the tone of the day and the location.

Of course, I should mention that I still really love Johanna & Eric's album (including their cover collage)... see a few posts down. I am so excited for the wedding season to get geared up! We are so close!!!

    Babies

    Happy St. Patrick's Day!

    I
can hardly believe that Claire is 2 months old ALREADY! The past 8 weeks have flown by, and I can neither imagine life without her nor can I believe that it has been so long since she was born! I am officially off of my maternity leave, and this wonderful weather has got me ITCHING to get behind the camera again... outside. But, Claire isn't quite ready for that. :-) Soo... her two month session was still inside. I swear she gets a new roll on her everyday (better on her than me- in fact, i would officially like to transfer mine to her!). :-) Happy viewing, friends!

Claire's eyes are a really dark blue right now... like navy blue... so, often times the details in her eyes get lost in photos. but not in this one! i love the high contrast!

Oh, that smile makes me melt every time!

I love her little profile. And no, her eyes aren't green... it just looks that way from the toning I used. :-)

Tell me this doesn't make you giggle... or at least smile! What a chin!

Claire absolutely hates "tummy-time." I mean, it is to the point that I feel like I am torturing her to do it. But, she has a strong neck without it, so hopefully, she won't be a 2 year old that still can't crawl. :-) Anyway... here is her sweet "angry" face when I tried to put her on her tummy on the boppy.

One peaceful pic of her during tummy time. Trust me, it was short lived. And, I know you love the hat! Our friend Alisha Clark gave it to her!

I couldn't decided which of the following I liked better... the black and white...

or the color (in honor of St. Patrick's Day!)

Another little smile. Happy St. Patrick's Day!! Since Chris is very Irish, I am obligated to tell you all to enjoy the day!

    Welcome to the World, Lily!

    T
wo days ago, our dear friends Meghan & Jon welcomed their daughter Lily into the world! And, I had the unique pleasure and honor to capture a few shots of them yesterday, enjoying her company at the hospital. Jon is also a photographer, so we agreed before Claire was born to trade off this "favor" for each other. ... and I am the kind of friend that doesn't need proof that there was a memory card in his camera when he came to the hospital in order to come take pics for him and his family. ;-) I tease. I tease. And, I would send you to his site, but all that is on there right now is his email address. But, that is a story for another time. I am done razzing Jon... at least for today. On to his beautiful wife and daughter!!! What a joy! I could not be happier to share such a joy with our friends... and with you. Happy viewing!

Meet Lillian Meredith Zander, born March 4 at 2:18pm, weighing 8 pounds 6 ounces, 23 inches long!

Beautiful mama and baby. Meghan sure doesn't look like she just gave birth!!

    A little family portrait...

The entire scene. I love how the two times I went to the hospital to see them, the room was packed! This lil girl is already so loved!

My favorite lil shot... mommy and daddy holding her hands.

Of course, we had to get a few shots of the future BFFs! Real bonding is going on here, people... no matter how sleepy Lily looks or how confused Claire looks!

Meghan & Jon get a 2 minute glance at what it would be like to have twins. ;-)

Great Grandpa gets his turn! (I love the light in this one!)

The next two are similar... I love them both! Sweet Lily!

Already a daddy's girl... we swear she is smiling at him!

Congrats to our dear friends, Meghan, Jon & Lily!! We are so amazingly excited for you all! And, we can't wait to get to know your lil one.
