H eather and Norm were married on a perfect Saturday on Lake Champlain at the Valcour Conference Center. As I was leaving Saranac Lake to head over there, it was pouring down rain, and I had a sinking feeling that this could be a not-so-dry and not-so-outdoor outdoor wedding. But, lo and behold, it was clear at Valcour, and it barely did more than sprinkle all afternoon! And, the crowd was elated with the day... and the couple could not have been happier. So... with that said (and not much more, sorry!)... Happy viewing, friends!
Norm getting ready. |

Heather all ready to go. LOVE this one!!! A LOT!

it was pretty windy at times during the ceremony. I love how the dresses flowed in the wind.

Similar to an engagement shot. Love this!

so... they had these paddles with their last names and the word wedding. I couldn't pass up a shot with one. haha!

i love this shot of Norm helping Heather around... you can see the ceremony site in the background. simply perfect.

This is not a typical shot I would put on my blog site, but I love the joy in this simple moment. (Heather opened the tray to find it empty- maybe they jumped the gun before the staff was ready?). ha!

Love this! I believe this is the father of the groom and Norm's uncle? Anyway... still love it.

another first dance. the background was so blasted out that I wanted to just clear it out to emphasize the sweet moment. i love it.

ring shot to close. Congrats you guys!

Claire Anna at Five Months |

W here does the time go? My lil bundle turned 5 months old last week! She is sitting up, rolling over (though not a lot), saying things like "mom," "mama," and "nemo," laughing, smiling, and grabbing everything in sight! She is changing so fast that I just can't imagine not taking a million pictures of her to capture each of these milestones! In fact, yesterday (when I was taking these pics) was the first day she sat up for more than 30 seconds... and of course, this time, she made it 5 minutes or more... and now does not want to lay down ever. Anyhow... enough babbling about my baby. Happy viewing, friends!
I got a little tired of taking all of her pictures in our house or our yard... so we went down to Lake Colby (with the help of the nanny- no way I could've carried everything!). Here's Claire enjoying some tummy time. This image is my on my desktop. I just love her sweet smirk and beautiful eyes and lashes! |

The view. so lovely. I think she is looking at the hospital where she was born!

So serious. I was so nervous she was going to topple over and knock her head. She made it 1 minute here.

I love this series! Claire discovering grass. I'm a lil surprised she didn't pull any up and try to put it in her mouth.

grabbing some tall grass.

i know you are jealous of the drool! Her eyes are like glass! Look at the blue skies and clouds in them!

Reaching, reaching, reaching... at this point, she had been sitting up for minutes, not seconds! Wha-hoo!!

Okay, so Claire was not feeling a smile at Lake Colby. But, I had to get one for the grandparents, so after naptime, she was super happy. And, here is the drippy drooly smile!

Oh, and I had to show how Claire tries to suck on her toes now. hmmm...

I love how she loves my hands. I had to try to get a picture of it. not bad for shooting with one hand, eh?

Y esterday was beautiful... until it was time to start shooting. It was raining in Saranac Lake, but fortunately, it was dry in Tupper Lake where I met the Hample family. The last time I saw them, Pailin was still in utero (about 3 or 4 months along), so needless to say, it had been a while... since Pailin is now 20 months old. Man, I am loving these toddler sessions, but it is a workout! I love coming home to my 5 month old and knowing that she stays in one place... although I am sure that won't last too much longer. Toddlers are really great. They are unashamed and totally free... with where they want to go, what they want to do, and they usually aren't too camera shy either. Pailin was absolutely no exception to this. In fact, she LOVED the camera and was ready to run me (and her parents) into the ground! ha! It was a super fun shoot, and I know you will feel it looking at these. So, happy viewing, friends!
The first obsession of the shoot was throwing rocks into the water. Back and forth we all went. How sweet is this one with daddy? |

The second obsession of the night was swinging in between daddy and mommy. LOVE this one!

Couldn't be happier... because she just landed from a giant swing!

I HAD to show this one... Pailin moves a mile a minute. Steph actually asked me how many pictures I take at a session like this... well, obviously, I always narrow it down for my clients, but for toddlers, I usually shoot close to 1,000 images (it is half or even a third of that for engagements and bridals). This image below shows you why. It was a darker evening last night, so... the shutter speed couldn't be fast enough to freeze this lil wild woman every single time in every single spot. ha! But, I still love this one!

Oh man... third obsession... her BINKY!

Fourth obsession... her daddy's truck. I think she could've played in here all night if we'd let her. ha!

And finally... last obsession (at least for the shoot)... rolling down the hill! I LOVE these next three!

dust it off! Rolling down the hill gets you a lil messy. :-)

Thanks so much to the Hample Family! I loved meeting lil Pailin and seeing her wonderful personality and energy!

Sasha & Stephen's Wedding |

T hey eloped! (Sorry, I just had to start that way since I know that many of their friends and family were unaware there was a wedding coming up). This was THE most intimate wedding I have ever photographed. Now, I have shot small weddings... anything less than 100 is small, really, but I have been the photographer at weddings of only 30 people or so... several times. But, THIS... this was the smallest wedding to date. Basically, if we had had one less person there, I would've had to sign their marriage license as a witness because it was just Sasha & Stephen and Sasha's sister and brother-in-law... oh, and the J.O.P. :-) It really was such a sweet thing to witness, and what an honor, too! To be attending such an intimate affair... there were no Uncle Joes shooting over my shoulder and there were not tons of digital cameras lining the aisle with their screens and flashes, ruining my shots... there wasn't even an aisle. I mean, that would've just been silly, right? It was simple and romantic. Their vows were personal and sweet. (Stephen vowed to always carry Sasha's luggage... and to not lose his wonderful Australian accent, among some other very touching vows). Overall, it was one of the most intimate events I have ever photographed, and for that, I am thankful to Sasha & Stephen for entrusting me to be there and to do such an important job.
Anyway, with all that said, I think you will enjoy this post; not just because of how sweet this couple is, but they are quite easy on the eyes, too! :-) Happy viewing, friends! |

We decided to meet about an hour or so before the ceremony to do a full fledge photo shoot together. I NEVER get this kind of time at a wedding to get great portraits; it was awesome! I almost didn't know what to do with myself; I could actually shoot all the ideas I had! ;-) This series on the dock is some of my faves.

seriously, how gorgeous are they?

Had to find a spot to do some layering. love this!

This is one of Chris' faves (he usually helps me pick out images for the blog)

Of course, I had to get some portraits of Sasha's adorable sister and brother-in-law!

Nice shot for mom... on the stairs leading up to the ceremony. :-)

This might be my favorite of the day. I love it!

I could not get over how evident Stephen's love for Sasha was... in every little thing. He was just the sweetest groom to his bride!

Sasha & Stephen were married at the Mirror Lake Inn. I suppose they had nowhere for them to marry, and they do not allow weddings in the common areas... so... they got married in their suite. (Told you it was intimate!). I LOVE this shot!

Congrats to you!! And thanks again!

I met Val in a daze. She is a nurse at the hospital where I delivered Claire, and she cared for her in her first night. I do remember Val from that night, but barely. :-) As soon as she contacted me to do her family's portraits, I got tickled with excitement to offer a service for someone who offered my family a service in our time of need. So, we've had this session planned for months. Val wanted to wait until she was 8 months pregnant so that we could get some good belly shots of her with her family. Well, her son Luke had other plans. He came 5 weeks early! Still not weighing more than 4.5 pounds, he is quite the little man. I have not been around a million newborns, but I am not sure I have ever been in the presence of a preemie. As soon as I saw him, I had to hold him! My cameras weigh more than he does; it was like holding air... and yet such a precious little person! I was immediately excited to capture this family with their new addition. Val is a talented photographer herself, so we wanted to be sure to capture images she can't quite do herself... like images of her and her husband with the kids. Happy viewing, friends!
how sweet is this little bundle?! |

so tiny in daddy's hands.

proud big brother holding Luke, with dad's help (of course)

Dads and babies always make our hearts melt, don't they?

This is my fave of Val and her new baby.

... but I love how you can see how tiny he is here... and that he is sucking his thumb!

Luke will be joining these guys before we know it!

The next two are some of my favorite family shots ever. Basically, my goal with family portraits is to just get everyone in the frame doing their own thing, looking natural... and somehow get an artistic angle on that moment. I think I got it in these...

I love this closing shot because you can see boys playing in the background. :-)

Thanks so much guys! Many blessings to your new addition to your family!
